Concept Artist

Position Overview:

 We are looking for an exceptionally skilled and motivated team-player with a proven track record in creating compelling concept art. The right candidate should be able to demonstrate outstanding all round creativity, artistic ability and imagination. They will be an Artist with a passion for transforming visions into reality.

Required:

  • World Class concept art ability (environment or character)

Lead Designer

Position Overview:

We are looking for an exceptionally creative, skilled, and motivated team-focused Lead Designer to fill this pivotal role within the CA Console Team. The right candidate will have a proven track record having had experience on several projects and be able to demonstrate an in depth knowledge of game design from both a creative and technical standpoint. They will have excellent people skills with the ability to communicate and manage effectively, with a determination to create AAA games within a world class team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help define and deliver on the vision with the Creative Lead.
  • Responsible for managing, steering and motivating the design team.
  • Representing design at Leads meetings.
  • Generating design documents for game mechanics & resource requirements.
  • Overseeing quality of game design from conception through implementation to final polish.
  • Evangelising the game both internally and externally

Required:

  • Shipped (PS2/Xbox/360/PS3) console titles in a Senior Design or Lead Design position.

Senior Designer

Position Overview:

We are looking for an exceptionally skilled and motivated team-player with a proven track record having had experience on several projects. The right candidate should be able to demonstrate an in depth knowledge of Game Design from both a creative and technical standpoint.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Lead Designer in the running of a Design Team, mentoring and monitoring the work of Game Designers.
  • Representing Design concerns at Leads meetings.

UI ARTIST

Position Overview:

We are looking for an exceptionally skilled and motivated team-player with a proven track record (or serious raw talent). The right candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent creative, technical and visual skill.  They will be an accomplished graphic Artist with a passion for motion graphics, a love of interface design and the ability to produce high quality (broadcast), intuitive, accessible content.

As well as the ‘industry standard’ software, they will be working with and help develop proprietary tools in both 2d and 3d environments.

LEAD ENGINE PROGRAMMER

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced console programmer who is interested in pushing the boundaries of next generation consoles to their limits. The successful applicant will lead a team developing all aspects of a game specific engine for 360, PS3 and PC with a view to extending the tech to ‘next next’ gen consoles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the research and implementation of new graphics related technologies.
  • Mentor members of engine team.
  • Create and maintain a fast, flexible, data driven content pipeline.
  • Report to the lead programmer.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • A good BSc degree or equivalent in a relevant subject such as maths, computer science or engineering.
  • A proven level of in-depth experience developing on next generation platforms.
  • Strong 3D maths skills and an in-depth understanding of next-gen rendering techniques.
  • Fluent C++
  • Strong assembly language skills coupled with a detailed knowledge of 360 and PS3 architecture.

3D FX ARTIST

Position Overview:

We are looking for an exceptionally skilled and motivated team-player with a proven track record (or serious raw talent). The right candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent creative, technical and visual skill.  They will be an accomplished Artist with a passion for visual effects with the ability to produce high quality, efficient, game content including full screen and post process effects, spot effects, particle systems and atmospherics.

As well as the ‘industry standard’ software, they will be working with and help develop proprietary tools in both 2d and 3d environments.

LEAD ANIMATOR

Position Overview:

We are looking for an exceptionally skilled and motivated team-player with a proven track record having had experience as a Lead Animator on at least 2 published titles. The right candidate should be able to demonstrate world class Animation abilities along with flair for creative, technical and visual skills. The Lead Animator will work closely with art, design, production, and code to create the highest quality work from the Animation Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Art Director and Creative Director to deliver within the overall artistic vision of  the project.
  • Responsible for delivering the performance of all characters for in-game and cutscene animation
  • Schedule, assign and oversee work for members of the Animation team.
  • Partner with production management to guide the Animators overall professional development, providing performance feedback, mentoring, resolving performance issues and maintaining positive morale amongst the team.
  • Work closely with production, art, code and design to create accurate and realistic animation schedules and tasks.
  • Make sure the animators work to deliver their tasks and requirements on time for designated milestones and animation schedules. Organize and manage the character animation team to perform in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Work with art and design to create and manage character models, character animation sets, rigging and any other animation related development issues.
  • Ability to debug Animation and technical problems. Assigns tasks to appropriate animators if required, making sure issues are pushed to closure.
  • Fluent Problem Solving – Constantly strive via research, to optimize and enhance an effective animation pipeline.
  • Identifying workflow improvements, providing and directing trouble-shooting efforts for the animation team.
  • Provides technical support in general for the Character/Rigging/Animation team.
  • Give creative direction and criticism where needed for all in-game character assets, animation and cutscenes that convey character and personality. Be responsible for overseeing the quality of animations through a ’signing off’ process.

Required:

  • Industry experience on a least 2 published titles.
  • Excellent knowledge of an industry standard Animation package (Maya/MotionBuilder)
  • Experience and understanding of Motion Capture set-ups, organisation, animation data pipelines.
  • Experience developing processes and tools for working with animated characters, including experience with game editing tools, the technical aspects of Maya animation, scripting, and character setup.
  • Passion for Character Animation (Games/Film/TV)
  • Excellent Life Drawing Skills, an understanding of anatomy in humans and animals, and a solid understanding of Animation Principles.

AUDIO ENGINEER

Position Overview:

The audio engineers’ primary purpose is to aid in all audio content creation, implementation and testing for titles developed at the studio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist audio lead in all areas of audio production.
  • To create sound effects and audio assets using techniques such as synthesis, location recording, Foley recording in addition to utilising pre-recorded material.
  • Integrate audio content into games using scripting or other in-house tools and software.
  • Record, edit and create dialogue assets.
  • To create, integrate and mix audio content for trailers, demo’s and conferences.
  • To test all aspects of implemented game audio to ensure playback is as intended and fit for commercial release.  Testing must be methodical and documented with detailed plans.
  • Report directly to audio lead all issues and problems, keeping lead well informed.
  • To help construct and maintain the in-house sound effects library, adhering to set conventions.
  • Travel to various locations, organising and conducting sound effects recording sessions.
  • Ensure all produced assets conform to audio leads vision and direction.
  • Keep abreast of current audio technologies and techniques.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Degree in audio related discipline (2:1 or above) or relevant in-house Game audio or Film/TV audio post production industry experience.
  • Excellent sound design skills, showing creative flare with proven ability.

  • Excellent C++ and maths ability
  • Knowledge of AI theory

PROGRAMMER:

You must have a passion for programming, experience in C++, a desire to learn, excellent 2D or 3D maths ability, a 2.1 degree or equivalent, obsessive attention to detail and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

ANIMATOR

Position Overview

The animator, will need to create and deliver top quality animation from in-game content to pre-rendered cinematics. With the focus on quality, the candidate will need to use various techniques from hand keyed animation to motion capture to deliver the desired results.

With the studio having its own motion capture studio, the candidate will be exposed to all aspects of motion capture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce high quality animation.
  • Deliver work in the required time.
  • Make sure all work is implemented correctly
  • Reports to the Lead animator

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • Have an excellent understanding of animation principles – timing, weight and staging

Position overview

A 6-month contract is open for an 3d Artist with an eye for technical detail, excellent art skills and texturing skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Member of the campaign art team
  • Primarily responsible for building and texturing the campaign map
  • Responsible for trouble shooting related bugs and technical problems.
  • Some bespoke modeling and texturing of campaign map pieces as required.
  • Reports to Lead Campaign Map Artist.

  • Good knowledge of 3DS Max, specifically creation of clean, optimized 3d models, with maps and UVs.

Ship (Vehicle) Artist – Shogun 2

6-month Contract in Horsham, West Sussex

Position overview:

A 6-month contract is open to join the battlefield art team as a Ship Artist, you will need an eye for technical detail, excellent art skills and good understanding of 3d modeling for games.

Key responsibilities

  • Primarily responsible for managing the outsourcing of the ship models and textures to our outsourcing partner
  • Responsible for trouble shooting related bugs and technical problems.
  • Some bespoke modeling of ships pieces as required.
  • Reports to Lead Battlefield Artist.

Essential

  • Good knowledge of 3DS Max, specifically creation of clean, optimized 3d models, with maps and UVs.
  • Experience with game pipelines
  • At least two shipped titles as Vehicle Artist or Environment Artist.
  • Texture creation with Adobe Photoshop.
